The British newspaper “The Sun” published today, Saturday, an article about insomnia, the inability to sleep, and the suffering of that, and the situation in which a person desperately needs rest.
British newspaper said a simple breathing technique will make anyone sleep in less than one minute, and it is called “4-7-8”.
The newspaper added that the “4-7-8” method is popular with people who suffer from insomnia, noting that it results comes very effectively in less than a minute, and that all people have to do is to make a change in the way of breathing and its frequency.
“The Sun” explained the method of breathing: “You can try this method by breathing through the nose for 4 seconds, then hold yourself for 7 seconds, then breathe for 8 seconds, and repeat this process 4 times.””.
Dr. Andrew Weil, an integrative medicine specialist at the University of Arizona, said that the breathing exercise is inspired by Indian yoga, which is used as part of meditation practice, explaining, “It is the best single way to return to sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night or if you suffer from insomnia”.
Dr. Weil indicated that this method imposes some rhythms on the breath and gives progressive signals to the nervous system.
